For Oliver Stone's W., filming begins in less than two weeks in Shreveport, LA. I kind of can't believe the film is actually happening, but maybe it's a comedy? I don't have much faith in Stone, but I have a lot in Josh. Alex, the author of the article at FirstShowing.net, shares similar opinions of my own. If you want to discover more about the film, his site offers a lot of interesting extras under Related Articles.

Watch for Josh on your TV, too. Mercedes-Benz features him in their latest commercial. It's pretty awesome. Check it out on YouTube:

There's no news yet regarding Josh & Terminator 4, but the cast thus far solidly includes Christian Bale, Anton Yelchin (Charlie Bartlett), Moon Bloodgood (Eight Below), Sam Worthington (Hart's War), and rapper Common (American Gangster). I really hope Josh secures the role! It's shaping up to be an impressive cast.

April 27, 2008: Josh Brolin Online is going on a short hiatus. Luckily, it's been a slow couple of months news-wise, but for a personal reason, I'm declaring a brief break. The JBO e-mail will still be checked daily, so if you have any questions, comments, or contributions, please continue to send them. We're always open to any of the following on the Contact page. I will also still be searching for any new magazine articles or new stories. If another pair of eyes is willing to help, that'd be wonderful. Returning from the hiatus, I expect to have new pictures, including magazine scans and movie screencaps, more news, updated information & filmography, as well as a new header and a new design for the gallery. :)

Take care,
~ Jess

April 15, 2008: I'm so incredibly excited to announce that JBO has over 1,000 hits in less than two months online! THANK YOU! Definitely continue to spread the word about Josh Brolin Online. I've entered the site in several link directories, as well as Google and Yahoo. (Does the site appear for anyone when you search for Josh?) To celebrate over 1,000 hits, I uploaded 21 new images to the gallery (eight in a new folder under Photo Shoots, 13 under Miscellaneous). Some of them are watermarked, but they don't cover Josh's face, which is great. Since Milk has wrapped production, Josh has been of the limelight, but I've been keeping my eye out for new images. If you spot him online or in magazines, let us know!

In the news, New Straits Times posted an interview with Josh. I found an old USA Today feature about Josh's "overnight success" accusations. Also, Cinematical.com posted the opening scene from Thrashin'. There's been dozens of articles buzzing around the internet regarding W., but it's mostly repetition of information we already know (see: March 27 update). Courtesy of IMDb, the cast seems to be coming together quickly (here).

Expect a new header image soon, as well as updates to the gallery (the color really clashes with the ad banner, yuck!) and Josh's personal information (Trivia, Quotes). Thank you so much for continuing to support the site!

March 27, 2008: While there hasn't been any news regarding Terminator 4, words are buzzing around the internet on Josh's next project, currently in pre-production. Oliver Stone's George W. Bush biopic has a new title: W. It looks as if Josh is firmly set in place as the lead. Rumor has it that Elizabeth Banks (Scrubs, Seabiscuit, Slither) has been offered the role of first lady Laura Bush, along with James Cromwell as George H.W. Bush and Ellen Burstyn as Barbara Bush. (Source)

Courant.com has a great article titled "They Don't Get No Respect," featuring Josh in the top spot. It's a tribute to actors who do great work, but are fated to be ignored by the Academy Awards. The article also includes Kevin Bacon, Danny Huston, Sam Rockwell, and others. You can find the link at the bottom of the page.

To those out in the Los Angeles area, HollyShorts 2008 will open with Josh's "X." The short film festival is in its fourth year. It'll kick off with "X" on Thursday, August 7, 2008 at the Egyptian Theatre. HollyShorts runs from August 7-10th. Mark your calendars!

Lastly, I have a big announcement: JBO is now affiliated with the Josh Brolin Forum! Want to meet other fans or discuss Josh's upcoming projects? You can at the one and only Josh forum on the Web. Go chat with some fellow Brolinites!

More soon,

March 20, 2008: My Spring Break was last week, which I should have used to update, but I most definitely didn't. ;) 15 new images have been added to the gallery. Much gratitude goes out to Mandy N., who has contributed over a dozens photos! Thank you, Mandy! Any other contributions, images or content, is greatly appreciated. The new photos can be found in the Miscellaneous folder, as well as Flaunt and Men's Journal magazine scan folders. I missed both magazines on the stands, so the scans are not my own. If you have better versions that you're willing to share, that would be so wonderful.

Since the Academy Awards, Josh has been taking it easy. Milk has wrapped up filming in San Francisco. It's due for release by the year's end. Co-starring alongside Sean Penn and Emile Hirsch, Josh plays Dan White, responsible for the assassination of San Francisco City Supervisor Harvey Milk and Mayor George Moscone. No Country For Old Men was released on March 11th. American Gangster and In the Valley of Elah can also be seen on DVD.

Production for Oliver Stone's Bush is expected to begin in April, but reports of further cast and story are still unknown. It's looking less likely that Josh will star in Terminator 4 with Christian Bale and Sam Worthington. I haven't seen any headlines about it, but Josh's name has been removed from the IMDb page, probably due to too much speculation.

Lastly, Josh's 15-minute short film, X, has been touring the film festival circuit. X is his directorial debut, starring his daughter, Eden. The short film covers a father-daughter relationship, following the story of a man who escapes prison to find his daughter and bury his wife. In a Q&A sessions at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, TX, Josh expressed interest in developing the film into a feature and continung to explore the dark themes of love, family, and death. Here you can read more about X.

Until next time,

March 8, 2008: Josh is on the cover of March's issue of Men's Journal and is featured in Flaunt. Find them on stands near you! A couple new images have been uploaded to the gallery, under the new Miscellaneous category where any unmarked/uncredited images will be added. More will be coming by the week's end, mostly screencaps from Josh's films, but also the scans from Men's Journal. Also, Josh's cameo in the Vanity Fair tribute to Alfred Hitchcock has finally been added. Don't forget No Country for Old Men comes to DVD on Tuesday, March 11.

In addition, two more affiliates have made contact: The Scottish Actors Blog and Lauren & Scott Online. Check out more news at the bottom of the page.

Stay tuned!

Feb. 25, 2008: Today is the grand opening of Josh Brolin Online! Welcome! Browse the site, peruse the gallery, and tell your friends! Please spread the word about JBO. There will be a ton of updates in the coming weeks for two reasons: (1) I'll be tweaking the site according to any comments and suggestions I get from readers, and (2) a lot of rumors are formulating about Josh's upcoming projects, including the exciting story featured below. Visit again soon, and thank you so much for stopping by.

Site Note: The gallery is fully online, as is Josh's biography page. Trivia, quotes, press & appearances, the site map, and detailed filmography will be added very, very shortly. JBO is in need of affiliates, if you're interested!

Pictures of Josh at the Academy Awards have already been added to the gallery. There are great shots of Josh and Javier, as well as Josh on stage with James McAvoy.

Will Josh be the next Terminator? In a recent interview with The213.net, McG, the director of the upcoming Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins has expressed interest in casting Josh as the Terminator. McG told 213:

“You know, those are big shoes to fill. If you go back and look at the first picture, it's so funny because there's such a decided difference between what Arnold was doing in the first picture and in the second and third picture. I mean, there's this decided physicality - look what Robert Patrick did to get ready for the role. He's a guy who I adore, I put him in every movie I've ever done. And it's very difficult to say because it's a decidedly masculine role and I think we're living in a time where a lot of actors are very effeminate, and they're sort of skinny, heroine chic and there's really a masculine component to the role. And there's guys out there like Russell Crowe and Eric Bana, bring a good physicality, they do what they do, but I don't know if they're exactly right at the end of the day. Josh Brolin is a very exciting actor - we'll see.

While it remains unconfirmed whether Josh has been contacted regarding the role, he would co-star alongside Christian Bale, who has already been cast as John Connor.
