June 22, 2008: I've already read another amazing casting rumor from the Brolin files. Two online sources (one, two) speculate that Josh might possibly be a consideration for the lead in the remake of Escape from New York. John Carpenter's 1981 film starred Kurt Russell as Snake Plissken. Gerard Butler (300, Phantom of the Opera) was originally attached to the project for a short time. It's a pretty random rumor, but after No Country, I'd love to see Josh in a real action hero role.

June 5, 2008: According to The Hollywood Reporter and Empire Online, Jesse Bradford (Swimfan, Flags of Our Fathers) has joined the cast of Oliver Stone's W., playing a college buddy of George W. Bush. Thus far, the complete cast of W. includes:

Josh as George W. Bush
Elizabeth Banks as Laura Bush
James Cromwell as George H.W. Bush
Ellen Burstyn as Barbara Bush
Thandie Newton as Condoleezza Rice
Ioan Gruffudd as Tony Blair
Richard Dreyfuss as Dick Cheney

A new interview by Entertainment Weekly's Benjamin Svetkey is a short Q&A with Josh regarding W. - his portrayal of Bush and the film's accuracy. (It's an EW.com exclusive, if I'm not mistaken, but I'll double check in the magazine.) Here's one of the questions:

From the script we've seen, W. could turn out to be a comedy or a tragedy. Do you know what's the tone going to be?
"I think Oliver wants to make it electric, to make it interesting. There is tragedy, there is drama, there is comedy. There is comedy to a ridiculous extent. I don't know what Oliver is going to decide in the editing room. No matter what I do when we shoot it - if I call Karl Rove ''Turdblossom'' and roll my eyes in one take, or if I say ''Turdblossom'' and look at something on my shoe - he's going to decide which one works in the editing room."

Here is teaser artwork from W., containing various Bushisms, that premiered at Cannes.

I'm relieved that the film is turning out to be more and more of a comedy. W. is slated for an October 17 release. (A related article, and partial interview with Mr. Stone, is linked at the bottom on the homepage.)

It looks like Josh didn't attend Cannes due to W. filming. According to what I can find on the internet, his last public appearance (red carpet, gala, film festival, etc.) was back in the end of March, so I don't have any new editorial photos to post, but I do have magazine scans! I uploaded the March issue of Men's Journal into the gallery, as well as the May 16 issue of Entertainment Weekly. Front covers and full articles can be seen and read in the JBO gallery. I also updated the Flaunt magazine scans with larger, better quality images.

Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins
Christian Bale has officially signed on for three Terminator films. Derek Anderson of the film's production company, Halcyon, spoke to the BBC at Cannes and said, "[Christian Bale] read the script and he loved it, so he's signed on for all three." I didn't know until now that the next Terminator installment would be the set-up for a trilogy!

Bryce Dallas Howard (The Village) has replaced Charlotte Gainsbourg (Science of Sleep) as Kate Connor, John's wife. The film's cast has been consistently in place with the exception of the Terminator, which better go to Josh! No other names have been thrown around, except his. Terminator 4 has begun production in Albuquerque, NM.

Stay tuned,

For Oliver Stone's W., filming begins in less than two weeks in Shreveport, LA. I kind of can't believe the film is actually happening, but maybe it's a comedy? I don't have much faith in Stone, but I have a lot in Josh. Alex, the author of the article at FirstShowing.net, shares similar opinions of my own. If you want to discover more about the film, his site offers a lot of interesting extras under Related Articles.

Watch for Josh on your TV, too. Mercedes-Benz features him in their latest commercial. It's pretty awesome. Check it out on YouTube:

There's no news yet regarding Josh & Terminator 4, but the cast thus far solidly includes Christian Bale, Anton Yelchin (Charlie Bartlett), Moon Bloodgood (Eight Below), Sam Worthington (Hart's War), and rapper Common (American Gangster). I really hope Josh secures the role! It's shaping up to be an impressive cast.
